Biggin Hill Airport is launching its second annual photography competition this week. It will run through the throughout the summer of 2016. The Festival of Flight on 11th June will provide the perfect opportunity for amateur photographers to seek out some unusual subject matter in otherwise local and traditional settings. Entries are invited from the local community with immediate effect.
This year will see a similar criteria for budding local photographers says Robert Walters, Business Development Director at Biggin Hill Airport.
“People have been taking photos at Biggin Hill Airport for decades. It is an inspiring venue with a rich history, an aspect that we seek to celebrate each year. The photography competition is a fun way for the local community to engage with airport life. It also helps to promote interest in aviation, particularly for our younger generations, at this historic local aerodrome where we shall be celebrating the centenary year in 2017” he says.
“The judges will be looking for elements of creativity and the best portrayals of airport and village scenarios as they happen. It will be the vision in the mind of the photographer at the time that usually provide pictures with the strongest appeal” says Mr Walters.
When judging is complete in September, the top 10 winning entries will be exhibited at the airport’s coffee shop, The Lookout.
The overall winner will be awarded a free flying lesson at the airport, a framed print of the winning image and an official photographers pass for the Centenary Year Festival of Flight 2017.
Details as to how to apply along with full terms and conditions are listed on the Biggin Hill Airport website: www.bigginhillairport.com.
