LoCATE at Biggin Hill launch jobs push

LoCATE at Biggin Hill, the partnership that brings together public and private sector organisations to promote Biggin Hill as a centre and base for aviation related business, has stepped up its drive to attract business and to create new jobs at the airport site.

Biggin Hill is already home to over 50 companies employing 1,000 people.  LoCATE at Biggin Hill has been running now for 4 years and is designed to attract international investment.  The project has already brought about almost £50 million of new investment at Biggin Hill.

This week, LoCATE published a new brochure with the aim of attracting more companies to this aviation led business centre.

Will Curtis, Managing Director of Biggin Hill Airport, said:

“LoCATE at Biggin Hill shows what we can do when businesses work closely with our public sector partners.  The businesses based at Biggin Hill are keen to grow to create new jobs and apprenticeship opportunities for local people.  By working together, we can demonstrate that Biggin Hill is a great place for international businesses to locate.”

The Mayor of London has identified Biggin Hill as a Strategic Outer London Development Centre (SOLDC) in the London Plan while it is also identified as one of three strategic employment areas in the London Borough of Bromley Plan with the aim of creating 2,300 new jobs over the next 15 years.

Earlier this year, Bromley Council agreed in principle to extend the Airport’s operating hours to improve the flexibility for customers using the airport. We hope that this will be ratified shortly.

Accompanying the extended hours will be a comprehensive Noise Action Plan to protect the amenity of local residents and our neighbours. This is being agreed with the Council and will see over £3 million invested in a range of noise mitigation measures including the installation of a new noise and track keeping system which is more usually found at larger airports.
