The Brownhill Insurance Group was crowned  ‘Business of the Year’ at the Bromley Business Awards 2014 last week after winning in the ‘Best Business for Customer Service’ category and two Highly Recommended accolades in the  Best Medium-sized Business and Best Employer and Staff Development sections.

Robert Walters, Business Development Director at London’s Biggin Hill Airport who was principal sponsor of the 2014 awards programme, presented the Business of the Year award to the Brownhill team led by director Gillian Henderson.   Pauline Andrews, Personal Client Manager and Tracy Weedon, Team Leader and a Personal Client Manager accompanied Gillian.  The ceremony was staged at a gala evening at The Warren last week.

Brownhill Insurance Group is a Bromley-based broker with broad market knowledge and nationwide experience. Formed in 1980, the company services a wide range of home and business owners with a strong, proven commitment to customer service over thirty-four years.

Other winners included MSE (UK) of Lower Sydenham, manufacturers of laboratory centrifuges and other laboratory equipment, who scooped the Small Business Award in the face of strong competition.

Entrepreneur of the Year was declared to be Amie McGranaghan who runs J’Amies Gymnastics Academy that teaches the young and old the sport of gymnastics and personal fitness across South London.

Earlier during the evening, Robert Walters drew attention to the increasing level of positive activity in Bromley that is now supporting local businesses.

“Most recently the London Borough of Bromley received recognition by the Federation of Small Businesses and KPMG as the most attractive place in the capital to start a small business.  This is a great endorsement to both those in the local authority who have helped to create this positive climate for business innovation, also for our local business community who have helped to realise their own aspirations through this positive stance” he said.

“It is up to all of us to use the tools and infrastructure provided.  It also shows that people in Bromley want to create new jobs and opportunities. The Council-led initiative known as Invest Bromley is certainly helping potential investors and companies outside the Borough to sit up and take notice of what is on offer” Mr Walters said.

Mr Walters concluded by congratulating Prospects Group on their fine organisation of the 4th Bromley Business Awards and the opportunities to celebrate all that is good about doing business in Bromley.
