Go-Ahead’s Routemaster bus in service in London in earlier days. It will be operating the noonday service from Biggin Hill to the airport on 14th June

Go-Ahead London will be offering a complimentary bus service for the Biggin Hill community attending the Festival of Flight at the airport on Saturday 14th June.

The points for pick-up will be the 320 bus stops in the valley and at the Post Office on Main Road.  The first free service will be at 12.00 noon and will continue every 10 – 12 minutes up to 2pm.  At the airport, the service will terminate in Churchill Way by Maitland View, providing easy pedestrian access to the spectator enclosure.

The return service will operate along the reverse route, the first bus at 7.00pm, final service at 8.15pm.

Passengers taking the 12.00 service to the airport will be travelling in a veteran Routemaster bus that Go-Ahead maintain as a tribute to this much-favoured and hugely successful type of yesteryear.

Event Organiser Colin Hitchins has warmly thanked Go-Ahead London for their support for the Festival with a free bus service for Biggin Hill.

“The Go-Ahead initiative is most welcome, providing the essential link service between the village and the airport on the day for those with pedestrian access” he says.

A limited number of tickets for the Festival at local favourable rates are still available to members of the Biggin Hill community.  These can be purchased at the Howard Cundy office and at Waitrose in the village.

Go-Ahead London is the largest bus operator in London, carrying up to 2M passengers on their network on a typical working day.
