The Environment
Environmental issues are always considered whether planning for the future or in day to day operations. The Master Plan includes a comprehensive review of the potential impacts of the Airport. Aircraft noise is strictly controlled by international, national and local regulations. At the local level, Biggin Hill Airport has noise limits for individual aircraft, as well as instructions to pilots to cause the least disturbance practicable. Noise complaints can be made to the Comments Line and are monitored carefully by the Consultative Committee. The Master Plan includes a noise assessment which shows that current and future noise levels are well within the levels set out in the London Borough of Bromley's Unitary Development Plan.
At the Airport, environmental considerations are important in the management of the estate with, for example, interceptors designed to deal with apron drainage and a grass cutting regime to manage birds. Air quality is well within the target levels set in the Mayor of London's Air Quality Strategy.
