Driving time is as critical as flying time.

If you ask those who regularly use business aviation flights to and from London, the factors rated most important in their choice of airport are, to some extent, predictable. Opening hours, runway length, location, fuel service and prices, landing and handling costs, terminal facilities and security all feature strongly in the answers.

But way up at the top of the list is road access and journey time to central London. More than any other factor this determines how effective the airport is.

Recent data from Trafficmaster ™ * compares access times between Tower Bridge in London and five airports serving business aviation – Biggin Hill, Farnborough, Northolt, Luton and Stansted. The results – shown here in tabular form make fascinating reading – turning many preconceived views on their head.

Quite simply the data shows that Biggin Hill is the clear winner making the South East London airport a very sensible choice on the grounds of access.

For even faster journey times a 5-minute twin-engined helicopter transfer service to Battersea Heliport, close to many Central London destinations, is available. Biggin Hill also boasts a resident limousine service at the airport.
